Summary:

The Assistant Controller plays a key leadership role within the Finance organization, supporting the Controller in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions while helping to scale processes in a fast-growing, regulated payments environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with strong technical expertise, experience in regulated industries, and the ability to drive process improvements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and journal entry reviews.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Partner with external auditors and support audit processes, including preparation of schedules and documentation.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls.
  • Assist with cash management, treasury functions, and banking relationships.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements specific to payments and gaming industries.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional development and accountability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Compliance, IT, and Operations teams.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred).
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as payments, fintech, gaming, or financial services preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in high-growth environments is a plus.
  • Background in transaction processing or high-volume financial environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting system implementations or accounting automation initiatives is highly desirable.
